About Us

Snapper Music was founded in 1996 as an independent record label. The early emphasis was on three main areas

• Recording of new albums by artists with an established fan base
• Development of mid-price CD ranges
• Acquisition of recording catalogues

These activities have continued ever since in a wide range of musical genres though in recent years in the company has developed specialities in metal and blues music in particular.

Among the recording catalogues purchased are those by WASP, Ozric Tentacles and The Pretty Things and albums have been recorded by artists including Peter Green and Cradle of Filth.

Following a capital-raising in 2000, operations were expanded with the acquisition of a majority stake in northern metal label Peaceville Records and the launch of a European joint venture for the Charly label.

More recently the company has been more specialised in metal & prog-rock catalogue acquisitions for digital, audio and DVD release, including artists such as Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, and for the Peaceville Label; Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Darkthrone & Tyrant Syndicate and a soon to be announced label acquisition.

Since the spring of 2004 Snapper and its related companies have been part of the Morrison Music Ltd group and further in 2005 the Company had a change in management we commonly refer to as New Snapper.
